Ricardo Beteta of the Association of New Men and Women of Panama reacted to the ruling of the Supreme Court of Justice, which does not recognize marriage between people of the same sex.
“We already know what we have to do, we definitely have to sue the Panamanian State before the Inter-American Court of Human Rights in San José, Costa Rica and remind them that an advisory opinion 24 has already been issued, which is a ruling of the Inter-American Court where it talks about the concepts of social orientation and gender identity and encourages, promotes, and recommends that states recognize same-sex unions and recognize the diversity of families,” Beteta said.
