The Cicpc reported the arrest of Edinson Rafael Ruiz Velázquez (26), allegedly involved in the murder of his uncle Carlos Augusto Velásquez Castillo (52). This crime occurred on February 26 at the victim’s home located in the El Silencio sector, Las Cocuizas parish, Maturín municipality, Monagas state.
Carlos Augusto’s body was located in the patio of his house with multiple stab wounds. The interior of the house was messy, a scene that was approached by Cicpc agents who collected fingerprints corresponding to the deceased’s nephew, the report says.
After the alleged murderer was captured, he recounted that he entered his uncle’s room and attacked him with a knife until he died. Later he stole his property with the help of Ángel Daniel Álvarez Carpintero (28), who was also captured.
Velásquez and Álvarez sold the goods that they took from Carlos Augusto’s home. The subjects were handed over to the Public Ministry for prosecution.
