Alert increase in dengue cases in districts of Ayacucho

Alert. A considerable increase in dengue cases is registered in the Ayacucho region in the first months of 2023. This was reported Miguel Figueroa Guevara, regional coordinator of the Health Strategy for Metaxenic Diseases of the Regional Health Directorate (Diresa).

The official warned that to date 181 cases have been reported, which reflects an increase in dengue cases compared to 2022, where 160 patients diagnosed with dengue were registered on the same date, in the provinces of Huanta and La Mar that are part of the of the Valley of the Apurímac, Ene and Mantaro Rivers (Vraem).

He explained that, of the 181 reported cases, two of them are currently hospitalized at the San Francisco Support Hospital (Ayna-La Mar district).

He also mentioned that in the area of ​​the Valley of the Apurímac, Ene and Mantaro (Vraem) rivers, the region has reported 18 deaths, in which 60% of dengue cases were adults or those who suffered from comorbidities such as diabetes or pressure arterial.

He also mentioned that, in compliance with the latest epidemiological alert due to an increase in cases, the Diresa-Ayacucho carried out a series of preventive actions in the districts of Ayna (La Mar) and Sivia in Huanta as they are the places with the highest number of infected .

Cases are also reported in the districts of Samugari and Santa Rosa in La Mar. Likewise, in Canayre, Llochegua, and Luricocha, in Huanta.

According to sex and life stages, Miguel Figueroa asserted that dengue attacks the adult population that ranges from 30 to 59 years, followed by young people from 18 to 29 years, in addition to people in the third age group. In a minimum percentage it occurs in minors.
