The details of the decree that will regulate digital security in the country

The National Government published a draft of the decree that establishes General guidelines to strengthen digital security in Colombia. The objective is to establish the regulations that will govern cybersecurity in the country.

It will take into account the fundamentals for the identification of critical cyber infrastructures and essential services, risk management and response to digital security incidents.

The decree will establish roles and duties of the different managers of this area and the way to coordinate. The National Digital Security Committee, its participants and how they should operate will also be formalized.

It will also boost the structures of the Computer Emergency Response Teams (CSIRT) of the Government sector: ColCERT (Colombian Cyber ​​Emergencies Response Group), Government CSIRT and CSIRT of the defense sector.

There are four fronts that this new regulation will have: digital security governance, digital security risk management, identification of critical infrastructures and essential services, and response to digital security incidents in the Colombian government sector.

With this draft, it is expected that the different actors of the cybersecurity ecosystem in the country will continue to articulate their work and efforts to meet the goals of the National Government on this issue.“, explained Carmen Ligia Valderrama, ICT minister.
