The authorities affirm that they are prepared to approach the new school year from different perspectives, including possible new demonstrations.
Some students have called for a “student backpack” for March 9, but the Ministry of Education hopes that the demonstrations will be peaceful and that concerns can always be resolved through dialogue.
Although the Coordinating Assembly of Secondary and Secondary Students, ACES, has clarified that, for the moment, they have not made any call for mobilizations, their spokesman, Gael Palape, has indicated that they will continue to demonstrate. They consider that the Mineduc has not responded to some of their main demands, such as advancing in a non-sexist education and solving the shortcomings of the food programs.
Carabineros and authorities have announced that they are already preparing from the point of view of security for the calls for student mobilizations, as well as for other upcoming demonstrations.
The municipality of Santiago has made a call that, in case of mobilization, violent acts are not carried out, and has stressed that progress has been made in resolving demands for infrastructure improvements in different establishments.
Students don’t stop! The ACES spokesman indicated that “we have been open to dialogue all this time and even so we have not received an answer. Let it be clear to them that we have been with this petition for more than ten years. The students are going to continue mobilizing.”
