Tomás Guanipa denied discontent in PJ for the election of Capriles as a candidate for primaries

The political leader Tomás Guanipa, from Primero Justicia, does not believe that there is any discomfort within the party due to Capriles’ “triumph” internally to be a candidate for the primaries for that political organization. He expressed that even Carlos Ocariz, one of the contenders, recognized in the board of directors of the awning the victory of the former governor of Miranda

The vice president of Political Affairs of Primero Justicia (PJ), Tomás Guanipa, denied this Wednesday, March 1, that there is discontent within the ranks of the party after the “forceful” choice of former governor Henrique Capriles as the organization’s standard bearer for the primaries.

In this way, Guanipa responds to the complaints collected by SuchWhich in which it is noted that the election of Capriles disrespected internal regulations approved, where it was said that in addition to the internal consultation, the opinion polls that were being published would be taken into account.

«The annoyance I don’t know where it can be. Maybe someone agrees or not, but there is a great consensus in the party,” said the political leader who, to complement his assertion, stated that the 35 members of the Primero Justicia board of directors, including the former mayor of the Sucre municipality and candidate for being a primary candidate, Carlos Ocariz, recognized the “forcefulness” of more than 80% of the results that favor Capriles.

«Carlos (Ocariz) recognizes what happened on Saturday and is one of those most interested in things going well and not repeating things from the past (…) it was decided by consensus and what is missing is the process of the National Political Committee to ratify Capriles (…) What you have to do is be united and now around the figure of Capriles. Everyone is aligned, everyone is happy. It was shown that Primero Justicia is not a party of buds,” Guanipa stressed in an interview with Globovisión.

This response about Carlos Ocariz – who has not yet officially ruled on the internal elections in PJ – is based on what happened in the regional elections for the governorship of Miranda, where the former mayor withdrew almost at the limit and harmed the candidacy of David Uzcátegui, from the Fuerza Vecinal party.

On the issue of disqualifications, Tomás Guanipa stressed that “everyone” has some penalty that prevents them from participating in an electoral process because, if you postulate a name and it grows in popularity, the Nicolás Maduro administration will seek to “take you out of the game” and put the example occurred in Barinas with Freddy Superlano; his wife; Julio Cesar Reyes and Sergio Garrido.

He indicated that Venezuelans cannot be underestimated when, outraged, they use the vote as a tool to transform the country and for this reason he warned of his concern regarding people’s thinking about alleged frauds when they lose in a process. Although he says that the Executive is “cheating”, there are cases like in Barinas where the vote was so forceful that nothing could be done to change reality in favor of the government.

He reiterated that for free elections the disqualifications must be lifted, return the judicialized parties, have electoral observation; updating and renewing the Electoral Registry both inside and outside the country, among other things, that they must fight for citizenship in the streets and at the negotiating table in Mexico.

Tomás Guanipa asked that there be respect for the National Primary Commission and that pressure or blackmail against its members be avoided, for which he stressed that what that body decides must be followed.
