Travel Mart, with business expectations of US$30 million

The last week ProColombia held the macro business roundtable Colombia Travel Mart, which reported business expectations for more than 30 million dollars.

The interesting thing about the event was that the businesses were not concentrated in one place. There, according to the official entity, the departments of Cundinamarca (US$12.6 million), Bolívar (US$5.7 million), Antioquia (US$3.6 million) and Valle del Cauca and Caldas (US$1.5 million).

The business appointments covered a wide range of the sector, from vacation tourism, corporate, by segments, supply offers and a wide variety of suppliers and contacts with 34 nations interested in doing tourism business with Colombia.

And it is that the forty-second version of the Anato Tourist Showcasehe Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism financed the stands of 32 departments, 7 special tourism districts, the gastronomy strategy as a tourist product ‘Colombia A La Mesa’ and the institutional stand, with an investment that exceeded $5,000 million.

The Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Germán Umaña Mendoza, highlighted that tourism “is one of the commitments of the Government of Change to generate sustainable, responsible and regenerative development in the Colombian regions, supporting the economic transition and the protection of nature”.

With the governments of Puerto Rico, Venezuela and the state of Michoacán, Mexico, there was an exchange of experiences, joint promotion strategies, participation in events, among others. Specifically, with Venezuela, a road map was drawn up for the consolidation of the Colombian-Venezuelan Libertadora Tourist Route and a binational business meeting in Cúcuta-Chinácota (Colombia) and San Cristóbal (Venezuela).

In coordination with the National Tourism Fund, Fontur, advice was provided on the formulation of projects; 34 visits were attended for tourism infrastructure projects; 180 for promotion and marketing projects and 47 for competitiveness projects.

For the general manager of Fontur, Álvaro Balcázar, this version 42 of the Tourist Showcase of Anato, “It was a commercial opportunity for the regions, which was reflected in 59,930 appointments and represents enormous commercial opportunities for the departments and municipalities, especially for non-traditional destinations”.

Among the activities of the Anato Tourist Showcase was the launch of the label ‘Colombia, destinations of peace’.

The seal had six symbolic deliveries, recognizing cooperatives of signatories of the peace agreement that implement ecotourism projects in Caquetá, Guaviare and Meta; and regional leaders who have contributed to tourism in Magdalena, Putumayo, Meta, Chocó and Antioquia.
