MIAMI, United States. — The United States Coast Guard (USCG) deported this Tuesday 41 Cuban rafters recently detained in operations carried out in the Florida Keys.

The federal entity published in Twitter that the migrants were returned to Cuba by the crew of the Coast Guard Charles David Jr.

“The crew of the Cutter Charles David Jr. repatriated 41 Cubans this Tuesday after interdictions in the Florida Keys.”

The US authorities insisted that surveillance in the Straits of Florida has been strengthened to prevent the arrival of irregular migrants.

“Partner agency teams are stopping people from immigrating to the US illegally. Don’t go overboard. Use safe and legal means to come to the United States,” adds the Coast Guard message.

Although to a lesser extent, the island’s rafters have continued to reach the shores of the United States after the entry into force of the parole of the Biden administration, which should benefit 30,000 Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans each month.

On February 24, the crew of the Coast Guard Charles David Jr. had repatriated 38 Cuban rafters after two rescue operations off the coast of Florida.

The day before, and on board that same boat, other 29 migrants of the island.

From October 1, 2022 (beginning of the fiscal year in the United States) to February 24, 2023, the crews of the US Coast Guard returned 5,740 rafters to Cuba, 442 fewer than all those intercepted during the fiscal year former.
