The Dominican Association of Teachers (ADP) described as a mockery what was expressed by President Luis Abinader in the field of education, in his accountability speech for the 179th anniversary of National Independence.
In a press release, the union denied that there is a full guarantee of the right to pre-university education, as stated by the president.
“The right to education does not simply consist of the freedom to attend school, but rather the right to education requires that public schools have the inputs, processes, and social and educational policies that make it possible to achieve of the expected learning in our students, which is not guaranteed in the state of situation in which pre-university education is currently in the Dominican Republic, the group expressed in the document.
The entity also refuted the affirmation of the head of Government in relation to the fact that no child was left out of the classrooms this school year, because student overcrowding continues to be one of the biggest problems in public education due to the lack of spaces in the educational centers, which makes it difficult to achieve the expected learning in students.
Likewise, he regretted that it was presented as an achievement that 2,014 students received a bonus to be attended in schools due to the lack of space in schools and high schools, when the system has a student enrollment of more than 2 million in the campuses. public.
He added that the classroom deficit currently exceeds 10,000 and that the school buildings carried out in the past two years do not even cover 10 percent.
Similarly, he stressed that the infrastructure and basic inputs are in crisis.
