The Ombudsman’s Office issued an early warning for the municipality of Cúcuta in which they underline human rights violations
Colombian senator Feliciano Valencia denounced this Thursday the murder of three people in the municipality of Cúcuta, department of Norte de Santander, identified as the Rueda Bello brothers: Alfonso, José and Daniel.
According to the acts of violence recorded so far in 2022, the Colombian media reported that this is the 14th massacre in the South American nation.
The commander of the Metropolitan Police of Cúcuta, Óscar Moreno, indicated that it was the community that notified the authorities about the incident.
According to the report of the local authorities, armed men arrived at the place where the brothers were, kidnapped them and later left their lifeless bodies in a cemetery in the area.
For its part, the Ombudsman’s Office issued an early warning for the municipality of Cúcuta in which they highlight the serious violations of human rights, both selective and massive.
Likewise, he warned that there is evidence of disputes between armed groups, as well as reports of forced disappearances, murders, recruitment, among other crimes.
On January 25, a massacre of three people was reported in Cúcuta, and five days earlier, in the same department, another three people were killed, number ten and 11 of 2022.
To date, the Institute of Studies for Development and Peace of Colombia (Indepaz) registered 17 social leaders assassinated during 2022, and 1,303 since the signing of the Peace Agreements in 2016.
