To guarantee the optimal and safe transfer of migrants to the province of Chiriquí, the Land Transit and Transportation Authority (ATTT), continued with the day of vehicle inspection of the buses of the Darién-Panama route, in the parking lots of the Rommel Fernández Stadium from the capital city.
The director in charge of the ATTT, Carlos Ordóñez, indicated that for this second day of vehicle inspection the process consisted of 2 phases. In the first, a verification of documents of both the transport unit and the drivers was carried out and the second of a complete mechanical inspection.
As appropriate, the ATTT was in charge of verifying that the transport units had their respective Operation Certificate, current insurance policy, Single Vehicle Registration, paid license plates, tires in good condition, fire extinguisher, glass breaker hammer, reflective triangle and all security measures. In addition, drivers had to present a valid driver’s license appropriate to the type of vehicle.
For the second phase of the day, it should be noted that, despite the fact that all the transport units had current Vehicle Inspection, they proceeded “at the concessionaires’ own initiative”, to carry out a mechanical inspection of the buses in a workshop authorized by the ATTT, located in the corregimiento of Juan Díaz.
During the vehicle technical inspection, a thorough review of the entire electrical system, lights, battery, horns, windshield wipers, brake systems, alignment, mirrors and the entire suspension system was carried out.
This is the second day of vehicle inspection carried out by the ATTT in coordination with the Directorate of Transit Operations of the National Police, the Ombudsman’s Office, the National Border Service (Senafront) and the National Migration Service.
