The Second Transitory Supreme Prosecutor Specialized in Crimes Committed by Public Officials requested this afternoon 36 months of preventive detention against the former president Pedro Castillo Terrones and former ministers Juan Silva Villegas and Geiner Alvarado López.
The request was presented days after Congress approved the constitutional complaint filed by the National Prosecutor, Patricia Benavides, against these senior officials.
According to the investigation, Silva and Alvarado were part of the criminal organization led by Castillo and which directed personnel contracts and public works from the Ministry of Transportation and Housing.
Regarding Alvarado, for example, there is evidence of the collection of million-dollar bribes from the businesswoman Sada Goray that ended up in the hands of Castillo, according to former Housing advisor Salatiel Marrufo.
Silva, meanwhile, is accused of having directed tenders in favor of Chinese companies from the Transportation sector, as revealed by the lobbyist Karelim López. According to the tax hypothesis, the former head of the MTC coordinated with the ex-president’s nephews to offer projects to companies in exchange for bribes.
