Remains of a missing man in Argentina found in the stomach of a shark

Two fishermen found last Sunday human remains in the stomach of a shark which, later, it was confirmed that they corresponded to those of Diego Barría, a 32-year-old man who disappeared on February 18 in Puerto Visser (Chubut, Argentina), reported local media.

The men who captured the animal, 1.5 meters long, they found in their victims a piece of human skin with a tattoo in the form of a tricolor rose, so they decided to notify the Police and the Naval Prefecture.

It was precisely the tattoo of that flower —which included an illegible inscription— which allowed Barría’s relatives to confirm in the judicial morgue that the remains belonged to their relative.

What happened?

Diego Barría left home on his quad around 9:00 p.m. (local time) on Saturday last week and was no longer heard from him. After a few hours, a search began, locating only the vehicle with serious damage to its body and the driver’s helmet.

The Comodoro Rivadavia Regional Police Unit explained that they found no trace of the man. “About what there was an accidentthere was and the corresponding tests are being carried out to find out if there was another vehicle involved”, commented Commissioner Daniela Millatruz.

In addition, the official indicated that considers the hypothesis that, after suffering the accidentBarría could have walked out or been reached by the tide, taking into account that “the sea dragged the seat and left it on the coast.”

A sunglasses case Reef brand that contained lenses with a detached glass and a damaged rod was located on February 25 on the stones of the beach, in the same place where the quadricycle had been located.

Barría’s mother confirmed that they belonged to her son.
