The head of the Board of Directors, José Williams, recently requested an audit on Monday, the Comptroller’s Office had already begun an information gathering process on February 21. Had it not been for the press, the waste would have been overlooked.
Due to the scandal over the waste of money in the Congress in the parliamentarians’ buffets, the acquisition of carpets, two LED/VIDEOWALL screens and rental of a property to use it as a vehicle parking, the head of the Board of Directors, Joseph Williamsrequested this Monday the 27th to Comptroller Nelson Shack to initiate a control process.
“We request that you arrange for a compliance audit and/or specific control service to be carried out on the following contracts executed by the Administration of the Congress of the republic“, says the letter sent by José Williams to Nelson Shack.
However, since February 21 the Comptroller General of the Republic had already started an “Information Collection Service”, a necessary process for the control body determine whether or not to conduct an audit.

According to Panorama, Congress approved spending S/315,000 to remodel the carpets in five spaces of the Legislative Palace and renting a property for S/1,620 to use as a garage. Likewise, in April 2021, this institution bought televisions for S/ 138,350.
Likewise, Cuarto Poder revealed on February 19 that the Board of Directors approved an addendum of more than S/2 million for food for congressmen. With that amount, a legislator’s breakfast rose from S/5 to S/31 and lunch and dinner from S/15.9 to S/80 each, respectively.
Just when these privileges were made public, the general director of the Administration of the Mayor’s Office, Pablo Noriega, annulled the delivery of buffet.
