In accordance with article 76 of the Constitution, the Senate has the exclusive power to analyze the foreign policy developed by the federal Executive, ratify the appointments of ambassadors and consuls general, as well as that of senior employees in the field.
The SRE announced on January 17, the proposals for 16 diplomatic appointments that President Andrés Manuel López Obrador will put to the consideration of the Chamber of Senators.
In addition to the three mentioned, he proposed the appointments of Amparo Anguiano for the Mexican embassy in Romania; Laura Beatriz Esquivel for diplomatic representation in Brazil; Bruno Figueroa for the embassy of our country in Portugal and Leopoldo de Gyves as ambassador of Mexico in Venezuela.
Others are Eduardo Villegas for the embassy in the Russian Federation and Jesusa Rodríguez as ambassador of Mexico in Panama, who was put at the table in place of the historian Pedro Salmerón, accused of sexual harassment when he was a professor.
