MADRID, Spain.- In one of the most central corners of the Vedado (intersection of avenues 23 and G) is located one of the emblematic restaurants of Havana, the Bar-Restaurant Castillo de Jagua. The enclosure has gone through stages of splendor, such as the 40s and then the 80s of the last century; and stages of decline. Among the latter, the most recent was in 2018, which, invaded by a marginal environment, according to recount the establishment’s own neighbors, and an unfortunate offer, closed its doors for a few months.

In 2019, after a restoration, it reopened with the offer of typical Cuban and international dishes that characterize it. The Castillo de Jagua was renovated and the image and furniture were carried out by the Cuban Furniture Company Dujo.

The Castillo de Jagua, which in its beginnings bore the name of Rancho Luna, between the years 1940 and 1950 was one of the best gastronomic places in the capital of Cuba. In the 50s it also had a canteen service. In the 80s he specialized in dishes made with chicken. At that time, wedding banquets were also held there and it was one of the most popular restaurants along with El Potín, El Cochinito, El Conejito, El Mandarín and 7 Mares.

Currently the property, with capacity for around 60 people, belongs to the state company Restaurantes de La Habana. The hours are from 10:00 in the morning to 10:45 at night and include bar service. Recently one of its spaces was leased as an ice cream parlor to Mypime Bianca SRL
