Tobacco will also be produced in San Juan de la Maguana

As part of the agricultural and economic development plan arranged by the president Louis Abinader for San Juanthe Minister of Agriculture, limber crossvisited a model farm in plantations from tobacco in Las Matas de Farfán for the purpose of industrialization and marketing.

During the tour of the plantation, located in Las Matas de Farfán, Cruz said that the area has 2,500 crops planted and it is expected to reach 10,000 within two years.

The plan seeks to develop the industrial sector in the province with the installation of processing factories from tobacco and thus contribute to the economic development of the Valley of San Juan.

“We are going to have an executive management working from San Juanwhere we are going to add value to agriculture,” he said during his visit.

During the tour, Cruz was accompanied by the president of the Council of Free Zones, Daniel Liranzo; Rafael Almonte, president of Intabaco, and the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Mipymes, Víctor Bisonó, with whom he outlined goals for the development of the industry.

Cruz highlighted the importance of the project, since exports of tobacco of the country contribute foreign currency above US$930 million per year.

Sandino González, owner of the Sangroagro farm, said that this processing plant has state-of-the-art warehouses and irrigation systems.
