Just days before the start of a new school year, the Government of the province of Buenos Aires offered a guideline for a 40% salary increase until July in the teaching parity for this year.
In this way, the administration of Axel Kicillof would exceed the proposal promoted by the nation in the teaching paritysince it proposed an increase of 30% every six months, this in order that the negotiation does not exceed the inflationary expectation of 60%.
The governor’s proposal also surpasses the offer of the teaching parity in the City of Buenos Aires, since the Buenos Aires Government presented an offer for a 60% increase in six installments until December, which was rejected by the educators, who will go on strike next Monday.
While, The Buenos Aires government proposes an average increase in three tranches of 18% in March, 10% in May and 12% in Julyto reach 40% accumulated by mid-year, since a salary update would be discussed again in August.
The unions stated that they will evaluate the Government’s proposal and that they will give an answer to it next Monday. Meanwhile, the Executive considers that the offer will have a positive acceptance.

For his part, the General Director of Culture and Education, Alberto Sileoni, highlighted that “due to a political decision that our governor made from day one, to generate a constant dialogue table with trade union organizations, and due to their merit, We arrived at this 2023, for the fourth consecutive year in the province of Buenos Aires, with classes starting normally when they have to start”.
Classes start next Wednesday
Looking ahead to the 2023 school calendar, classes in schools in the province of Buenos Aires will begin next Wednesday, March 1. This in order to guarantee 190 days of class.
