On February 22, 2012, 51 people lost their lives and another 800 were injured in what was considered one of the worst rail accidents in the country: the tragedy of eleven.
For this reason, 11 years after the tragedy of elevensurvivors and relatives of the victims held a tribute at the head station of the Sarmiento train where it occurred the sinisterwhen train number 3772, identified with plate 16 of the Trenes de Buenos Aires company, collided with the containment bumpers.

The ceremony began on platform 1 of the Once station of the Sarmiento train line at 8:32, the same time the crash occurred 11 years ago. During the event, relatives and friends of the victims who demand justice after more than a decade participated.
“Every February 22 at this time we shudder again, when the memories of that day cross our memory. The sound of the siren shakes us and requires us to be alert and keep our memory awake,” read one of the relatives.
And he added: “Justice is also action, it is empathy from and towards other similar cases. Justice is memory, justice is that it not be repeated.” Attendees carried signs with the slogan “Justice” and photos of their loved ones.
It should be remembered that 28 people were tried for the act, of which 21 were charged with the crimes of fraudulent administration to the detriment of the public administration and culpable damage. Among those convicted were: Claudio Cirigliano, head of Argentine Trains, Ricardo Jaime, former Secretary of Transportation, and Marcos Córdoba, the train driver.
How the tragedy of Once happened
On February 22, 2012, a train from the Trenes Argentinos company arrived at the Once station, the head of the Sarmiento line. By not stopping its march, the train collided with the containment bumpers of platform 2, which caused the fatal accident.
