The senator and leader of the Cabildo Abierto, Guido Manini Ríos, has made clear his total disagreement with the idea of a common program that the ruling party began to discuss in recent days. This proposal seeks that the parties that are members of the government coalition arrive at the 2024 elections with a joint vision.
In the Estado de situación program on Radio Oriental, Manini Ríos pointed out that the Cabildo Abierto is a party that has its own proposal and that this has been evidenced “one day in and another too.” To support his position, the Cabildo Abierto leader mentioned his party’s recent rejection of the bill presented by the economic team to restructure the debts of individuals. This initiative faces strong resistance in the government.
This Tuesday, the daily The country reported that the idea of a common program began to be exchanged “informally” between leaders of different parties, and emerged in red ranks, more precisely from the senator German Coutinho. The latter understands that the coalition must begin to take a direction that leads this bloc towards the organizational form that the leftist coalition has already had for several years.
Manini Ríos is not convinced by the idea
Manini Ríos was skeptical about the possibility of achieving a common program, given that the differences between the parties are deep, and not only ideological, but also in terms of visions of people’s problems. “The restructuring of debts is imposed, whether a certain leadership or certain officials like it or not,” warned the leader of Cabildo Abierto.
In the event that the project does not prosper in Parliament, Cabildo Abierto has made it clear that it will undertake a signature campaign to submit the initiative to popular consultation. In this way, the party led by Manini Ríos seeks to consolidate its position against the ruling party and the government coalition as a whole.
