Michoacan IP supports the candidacy of the entity to house Tesla

The private sector of Michoacan supported the state government’s decision to present the entity as a candidate to house Tesla Motors.

Derived from a meeting with members of the local government, the president of the Business Coordinating Council of the State of Michoacán (CCEEM), Raymundo López Olvera, explained that if the arrival of this international company is achieved, the entity will become more attractive in terms of investments, especially nearshoring, which could reconfigure it economically.

“This would generate formal employment, direct and indirect economic spillovers, and we put ourselves a star before the world, that companies of that level can arrive in the state,” said López Olvera.

Along these lines, the business leader assured that consolidating the installation of Tesla in Michoacan it would place the state on a global plane, erasing the stigmas that have been generated to the entity in recent years.

“The business sector welcomes the fact that the governor raised his hand for this investment to reach Michoacán. I call for the unity of all sectors with the intention of supporting this type of project ”, he deepened, adding that more companies of this type should be invited.

López Olvera stressed that there are different areas of opportunity that the entity has, unlike other states, the first is that Michoacan It does comply with international clean energy regulations.

“There are clear arguments, such as that in Michoacán we produce clean energy and they are part of the international rules that companies of this level have to comply with,” he mentioned.

According to information from the Investment Directorate of the Sedeco state, only in terms of energy, Michoacán produces 7.8 million megawatt-hours annually, 90% coming from hydroelectric plants and the remaining 10% from geothermal energy, considered clean energy.

Another aspect is the proximity of Michoacán to Guanajuato, a state that is home to Tesla suppliers.

present candidacy

Derived from the fact that the federal government announced that Tesla seeks to invest in a federative entity of the country, different entities are already disputing its arrival.

This week the state president, Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla, formalized two proposals before the Mexican government for the installation of the global company that intends to invest in the national territory.

Documents to which El Economista had access highlight that it focuses on two locations: Parque Bajío 1 and the island of La Palma.

These two sites concentrate areas of opportunity such as the annual disposal of 1 million cubic meters of water with a concession granted for years by the National Water Commission (Conagua).

“There is feasibility of electric power. In Michoacan 7.8 million megawatt-hours are produced, 90% comes from hydroelectric plants and 10% geothermal. Michoacán represents 25% of the installed capacity at the national level”, the publication refers to.
