Children’s Hospital Dr. Mario Ortiz Suarez requires between 160 and 200 health professionals to deal with patient saturation before the dengue epidemic that has already left 25 people dead in the department of Santa Cruz.
The general secretary of the Union of Medical Branches of Public Health (Sirmes) of the Children’s Hospital, Gróver Espada, indicated that there is a saturation of patients in this hospital and, therefore, it is urgent to have these medical professionals.
In order to cover all the demand we need between 160 and 200 professionals, taking into account doctors, nurses, biochemists, pharmacists and assistants, but for the moment lThe Government is wanting to cover 60 contracts, that it is going to somewhat alleviate that demand that we have in human resources”, said the doctor.
Sword reported that This third level hospital has registered between 35 and 38 patients hospitalized for dengue and that are distributed in the different rooms. Of this total, two are in intensive care and two in intensive care.
In addition, he recalled that the Children’s Hospital is the only reference pediatric health center in the entire department of Santa Cruz and, therefore, it not only has patients with dengue but also patients with other pathologies which are derived from provinces.
“We are collapsed, we do not have space for more patients. In the past few days, we have had patients in the hallways, on the floor, and on the benches. Now it is a little difficult to be able to redistribute them to other rooms”, indicated Espada.
He noted that the Ministry of Health has not complied with the delivery of more items in order to continue serving the child population.
