Fire in Holguín continues out of control: “This Tuesday will be decisive”

This Monday, the Cuban ruler Miguel Díaz-Canel referred in Twitter to the fire in Holguín, and hinted that it occurred because of the drought.

“Forces of the Cuban Fire Department and Forest Rangers are fighting a fire without truce in Pinares de Mayarí, in Holguín, an area affected, like almost the entire nation, by an intense drought.”

“The inhabitants of the place have been saved from the smoke and the flames. Comrades from various sectors, including the Revolutionary Armed Forces, are waging a strong battle against this sinister. We are constantly monitoring the situation,” Díaz-Canel added.

The large-scale fire broke out last Saturday in the mountainous area of ​​Pinares de Mayarí.

The incident, which until yesterday covered around 100 hectares, now threatens the Mensura-Piloto National Park, which occupies an area of ​​more than 8,480 hectares in which endemic species of Cuban flora and fauna cohabit.
