Organizations that are members of the Day of Struggle for the Defense of Water yesterday closed Avenida Insurgentes Sur, next to Ciudad Universitaria, for several hours and in the afternoon they slammed the door at the central offices of the National Water Commission (Conagua) demanding an audience with the director, Germán Martínez. However, as the mobilization had already announced since the week, there were only security personnel at the facilities.

The Coalition of Democratic, Urban and Campesino Organizations (Coduc) and other groups carried out the day by installing banners around the Conagua building, both on the bars and on the entrances, which had written legends such as no to privatization either Conagua grants a concession to a water treatment company that contaminates the Conejos ejido and its community in the municipality of Atotonilco de Tula, Hidalgo. While other people demonstrated with banners on the avenues demanding the human right to water in the face of the scarcity that exists in a large part of the national territory.

However, the main demand was compliance with a minute signed a year ago by the agency and on which there has been no progress, so they demand a meeting with Germán Martínez. Around 4:00 p.m. they reopened traffic on Avenida Insurgentes Sur.
