Government will release FGTS for residents of areas affected by rains

The Minister of Planning and Budget, Simone Tebet, said in this secondthis Monday (20th) that the federal government will release the withdrawal of resources from the Severance Indemnity Fund (FGTS) due to the situation of decreed calamity in the six municipalities in São Paulo most affected by the weekend’s rains. According to information from the Ministry of Integration and Regional Development, the municipalities in this situation are: São Sebastião, Caraguatatuba, Guarujá, Bertioga, Ilhabela and Ubatuba.

The minister also stated that, among the government’s priorities, is the recovery of roads in the region. Currently, several stretches register points of total and partial interdiction.

“The Ministry of Integration has R$ 579 million available. A part of this has already been committed, but this resource is for all of Brazil. This means that going forward, we will need to make up for other municipalities and other states. But it already has money for repairing roads that cannot be blocked, mainly BR-101, which is fundamental, the Rio-Santos section.

Tebet is with his family in the city of Guarujá and interrupted the recess to join the entourage of ministers who accompanied President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on a visit to the municipality of São Sebastião, one of the most affected by the rains in recent days.
