The Honorary President of the Banco de la Nación Argentina Foundation, Fabiola Yañez, delivered 300 wheelchairs in different provinces and cities throughout Argentina.

During the year 2020, the BNA Foundation began to manage, together with the Walkabout Foundation of the United Kingdom, the acquisition of 600 wheelchairs to be delivered to people who need them in Argentina.

With the fundamental help of CILSA, which made it possible to know where the people who had this need were, and maintaining a federal commitment, the Banco de la Nación Argentina Foundation delivered 300 chairs in provinces and cities of the country.

The chairs were delivered in the provinces and towns of Santa Fe, Chubut, Entre Ríos, Misiones, San Juan, Tucumán, Mar del Plata, La Plata and in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.

“I am very excited and very happy for what has been achieved together with the Walkabout Foundation, Cilsa and the Banco Nación Foundation. It fills me with happiness to have delivered the chairs with a federal look to those who need it most. A chair is synonymous with inclusion, a better life, equal opportunities. It is endless possibilities. It is not just an object, it is a before and after in people’s lives”said the First Lady.

Yañez added that “This chair gives them freedom, autonomy, feeds their self-esteem because they can fend for themselves in many tasks, and therefore also their dignity. But above all it brings them closer to going to study, to going to work, to going to learn a trade, to playing sports, to being outdoors. Something that perhaps for us is a trifle, but there are many people who are forced to remain bedridden, in a room because they simply do not have a wheelchair. Knowing that any management that is carried out brings us closer to achieving at least one need, gives me the motivation to continue on this path. This is just the beginning, we are going for the second stage of this important dream, we are going for 300 more chairs”, concluded the Honorary President of the BNA Foundation.

During the donation, postural chairs, which are very difficult to obtain in the country, were also delivered. With the work of the Banco Nación Foundation and the management of Fabiola together with other foundations, 50 of these chairs have already been delivered in different parts of the country.

“I have been in a wheelchair for 30 years. It is the first time that I have a wheelchair that is mine, all the ones I had were borrowed, chairs that could not even be used. Now everything is going to be much easier for me” said Sonia, 46 years old, from the Buenos Aires town of Pilar, who received a wheelchair donated by Fundación Banco de la Nación Argentina.

The wheelchairs delivered were the “Rough Rider”, which have special equipment that allows the full comfort of the person who uses it. They have an anatomical armrest, adjustable backrest to the user’s requirements. Wide front wheels, which allow driving on any type of terrain. Anti bedsore cushions, maintenance tools and axes. The adjustments of the chairs allow to achieve the correct size and guarantee the optimal fit of the user, validate the posture, size, pressure, height to the footrest, height of the backrest, so that the user can sit upright.

Silvia Carranza, president of CILSA, expressed that “it is important to create links between people and organizations, this makes us stronger and better people. This was achieved thanks to the efforts of the Fundación del Banco de la Nación Argentina through its honorary president, Fabiola Yañez. It was a management that she did abroad to strengthen the needs that we can cover in Argentina. We are very happy to be able to do it.”

Walkabout Foundation has been working in Argentina since 2013, with its efforts They have already managed to donate more than 1,140 chairs throughout the country.
