The Cooperativa de Trabajo Metalúrgica Llavallol (Cotramel) signed an agreement with Siderar Techint, through which it will be able to access the direct purchase of inputswhich will allow a reduction in production costs and an improvement in competitiveness.
“It is a recognition of the multinational towards the recovered companies like any SME”highlighted the national director of Recovered Companies, Eduardo “Vasco” Murúa, in dialogue with Télam.
From the management of the National Directorate of Recovered Companies (DNER) under the Ministry of Social Development, the company recovered by its workers Cotramel (ex Canale) will be able to access the direct purchase of inputs, without intermediaries, from the company Siderar del Techint group.
This way, Cotramel became the first company in the sector to access the direct purchase of raw materials with the steel producerwhich will allow greater commercial and productive competitiveness.
In this sense, the leader stated that he is also seeking to sign similar agreements with the automotive companies “because we also have a problem there, since our auto parts companies cannot enter the market of the large automotive companies.”
Large companies such as Techint have sales mechanisms that exclude recovered companies or smaller SMEs, so that the way to access inputs is through distributors that operate as intermediaries, making the cost of production even more expensive. 25%
“What we seek is to integrate, because we are the same as those businessmen but with a different legal form. For this reason, it is necessary to be able to break this discrimination that sometimes exists towards the cooperative sector in most large companies, with cooperatives, to be able to break that logic,” explained Murúa.
A law for the recovery of productive units
On the other hand, this week workers from recovered factories, national deputies, national and provincial officials met at the Cotramel headquarters, located in Llavallol, Buenos Aires province, with the aim of promoting the bill for the Recovery of Productive Units .
The bill declares the recovery process of companies by their workers to be of public utilityas a possible subject to continue the operation of the company in the process of bankruptcy, prioritizing the necessary assets for that purpose.
In addition, it provides for the transfer of the properties expropriated through this law, to the workers’ cooperative, under the condition that its facilities that are not used for production, can be used for the development of social, cultural, educational activities, tasks care and vocational training.
Through a debate table, and in dialogue with the workers, the legislators stressed the importance of this law to achieve legal security for the recovered companies; establish an efficient system to recover companies in Argentina that protects jobs and, at the same time, does not mean an economic burden for the State.
On this point, Murúa maintained that the objective is “for the law to be clearly presented to society that it will not cost anyone a penny more or a tax.”
“That we are not a burden for the people as a whole, but that we are making a bankruptcy liability, a bankruptcy liability, become an asset for the State and the workers, maintaining jobs and the State recovering its credits” the official specified.
Likewise, the point of promoting the establishment of a fund for the productive development of the recovered companies was also raised.
However, on this axis, he pointed out that “we do not believe that this special fund is necessary, but we want work to be done on the compensation of credits” to the recovered companies.
Within this framework, the national deputies who participated in the meeting, Daniel Arroyo, María Rosa Martínez and Juan Marino promised to advance in the treatment of this law by the end of March.
In addition, workers from recovered companies and the Undersecretary of Trades and Territories of Lomas de Zamora, Ileana Arisqueta, among other officials, were present.
