Foreign Direct Investment in Mexico in 2022: 7-year record

During 2022, the reception of foreign capital investment it scored its best level in seven years, with a total amount of 35.922 million dollars, according to preliminary records from the Ministry of Economy.

Of the FDI reported, 48% corresponds to new investments in Mexico; 45% to profits that did not return to their country of origin (reinvestment of profits) and the remaining 7% to loans and payments between companies of the same corporate group (intercompany accounts).

The five states with the highest FDI registered during 2022 were: the Mexico Citywith 10,923 million dollars, followed by Nuevo León (4,397 million), Jalisco (2,895 million), Baja California (1,877 million) and Chihuahua (1,876 million).
