A prison man robbed a store in Alma Rosa

The Second Collegiate Court of Santo Domingo imposed a sentence of 20 years
prison and the payment of compensation of two million pesos against a man who, when carrying out a

robbery along with four others, he injured the owner of a shopping center and a person who was there in an event that occurred in 2016, on Avenida San Vicente de Paul.

The sentence was handed down against José Manuel Méndez López or José Manuel Méndez Sosa, alias El Lápiz, for an act committed to the detriment of Andrés Cristian Alicea Astacio and Mario Bernabé Ruiz Beltré.

A statement from Public ministry indicates that the actions committed by Méndez López constitute a violation of articles 265, 266, 304 and 379 of the Dominican Penal Code that punish the association of criminals, robbery, crimes and crimes against property.

“The criminal acts occurred on the morning of February 26, 2016, when the accused, gun in hand, and his accomplices, Steven Tomson Minaya, alias Bullin, Wharris Junior Gómez Mejía, alias Guarry, and two others known as Erick and Luis, appeared to Alicea Astacio’s cell phone sales store, on San Vicente de Paul avenue, in the Alma Rosa sector,” explains the Public ministry.

He maintained that at gunpoint they carried out a robbery In that place, where the victim was seriously injured, who, according to a forensic doctor from the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF), was hit with a projectile in the left shoulder, with ecchymosis entering and exiting.

The antisocials managed to steal several cell phones of different brands and models from the business, as well as laptops and the sum of 90 thousand pesos in cash.

By decision of the court, the defendant must serve the sentence in the La Victoria National Penitentiary.
