They find fourth body: Choque killed his cousin in 2011 and asked for money

Luis Escobar / La Paz

Richard Choque, the femicide and serial rapist, violently murdered his cousin Fidel Lecón Choque in 2011. He was his first victim, according to the authorities. After killing the young man, the criminal demanded $5,000 from his aunt and uncle because he said he would help him enter the Military College and for years he continued to ask his relatives for money so that the victim could continue with her studies.

Yesterday, after 11 years, the Police found the body of the young man, who was buried in the murderer’s second house. With this case, there are already four bodies that were found in the Choque buildings.

The criminal confessed to this new crime on Tuesday in the Chonchocoro prison. Teams from the Police, Prosecutor’s Office, forensic and firefighters arrived yesterday at 11:00 at the property that belonged to Choque’s mother in the San Martín area of El Alto in search of the victim’s remains.

At 16:33 yesterday, the experts removed the remains of the young man who was murdered when he was 18 years old. He was transferred in a black plastic bag to the morgue for the respective autopsy.

In 2011, Choque was 30 years old and -according to his own statements- entered a military institute, but was later discharged. Since he was aware of his admission to that entity, he offered to train his cousin.

The mother of the victim stated that Choque told them that “he had acquaintances” with whom he would get the young man to enter the Military College.

“The defendant always asked them for money for (Fidel’s) studies and he always gave it to him. When they tried to travel to see their son (Richard Choque) he told them not to do it because he was quartered or that he could not leave the Military College or receive any visits for a year, ”reads a report of the case accessed by Page Seven .

One year after his disappearance, Choque told his uncles that Fidel traveled to Haiti or that he went to a skydiving course. He told them that he could not talk on the cell phone because he “was restricted from doing so.”

In 2014, Fidel’s mother found out through the press that her nephew had murdered a 20-year-old girl. The aunt went to the Chonchocoro prison to claim for her son. “Richard Choque indicated that the young man would be in Cochabamba, in the North zone,” says the document.

The desperate woman went to look for her son in Cochabamba, placed advertisements on the stations and could not find him. In 2016, the mother filed a complaint with the Prosecutor against Richard Choque and in May 2019, the request was rejected.

“According to the investigations, Richard Choque would have given a poison to end the life (of his cousin) and later cremated the victim,” said the Government Minister, Eduardo del Castillo, who yesterday arrived at that house and warned that Beyond Choque’s statement, the victim would have received physical violence. “We have seen that the head is detached from the body. However, the legal autopsy will determine the causes of death,” he said. The body was buried at a depth of 90 centimeters and was wrapped in jute bags.

In 2013, Richard Choque violently murdered Blanca, a 20-year-old girl, and buried her in the same land where Fidel’s body was found yesterday. The criminal was sentenced to 30 years in prison for the death of the young woman and in December 2019, Judge Rafael Alcón granted him house arrest. In these two years he killed two other girls aged 15 and 17. He is investigated for raping 77 women.

Police and fire crews carried out the search.
