The Venezuela-Colombia Parliamentary Friendship Group (Gap) will invite the first vice president of the Permanent Commission on Foreign Policy, Sovereignty and Integration, deputy Ilenia Medina, to discuss human trafficking in the Colombian-Venezuelan border area, according to the President of this instance of the Legislature, Deputy Julio Chávez.
As is known, the aforementioned commission is in charge of developing a law on Migrants and Human Trafficking to protect the rights of compatriots residing in other countries.
Likewise, the aforementioned group evaluated the potential offered by its work plan for this year 2023, which it will execute in the coming months.
The Gap also plans to hold meetings with Colombian senators to exchange opinions and ideas on legislative matters, meetings that will be held in person and virtually as part of integration policies.
On the other hand, the Venezuela-Colombia Parliamentary Friendship Group welcomes the appointment of Carlos Martínez Mendoza as the new ambassador of Venezuela to the Republic of Colombia, according to the president of that instance of the Legislature, deputy Julio Chávez (PSUV/Lara), highlights Parliament’s press release.
The assemblyman described Martínez Mendoza as a great man with the ability to articulate to assume any responsibility. He spoke of his vast experience in diplomatic affairs and the extensive knowledge he has acquired in bilateral relations. “He will give dynamism to relations between Venezuela and Colombia,” he said.
