The departure of the first export cargo that will travel the Vía Navigable Troncal from the Port of Posadas was finalized this morning after more than 45 years, after improvements in its infrastructure, such as the installation of a state-of-the-art crane for the movement of loads with funds from the national government, reported the Ministry of Transportation of the Nation.

This first shipment includes about 300 tons of pulp and 250 tons of tea in forty-foot containers, with its main destinations being Europe, China, and North America.

The Port of Posadas It has a fixed crane of German origin -installed in 2021 by the Ministry of Transport of the Nation, in coordination with the Undersecretariat of Ports, Waterways and Merchant Marine- with the latest technology for the movement of cargo, which moves containers to expedite the river logistics.

During the activity, Giuliano pointed out that “when we think of the Ministry of Transport at the service of the economy and regional development, we refer to having an operational port that allows lower logistics costs, a crane that returned to work after so long due to the management of the national and provincial governments, ships that move production and an extended Trunk Waterway, where Misiones is one of the protagonists; It is to recover a strategic port for Argentina, and central for Mercosur”.

In addition, he remarked that “from now on we have to increase the fleet of our merchant marine, which has a great capacity for integration, as we are going to see with the launch of our Federal Fluvial Fleet, of Argentine federal investment with which we want to achieve greater levels of competitiveness in our rivers”.

For his part, Herrera Ahuad He maintained that “thanks to the help and accompaniment of the Ministry of Transportation of the Nation we are taking a fundamental step for the province, for the region and for Argentina: Today missionary products leave for other parts of the world from our port, connecting this province and this beautiful Paraná River with the world through the Trunk Navigable Way”.

The missionary load is composed mainly of Forest products (such as pulp, the main export item in terms of Misiones), processed loose tea and yerba mate, to which other products will be added in a second instance.

It is expected that in the future it will again be possible to transport bulk gas in large quantities from Misiones, as was done in the past.
