SANTO DOMINGO.- Members of the State security forces activate the persecution of the fugitive Leónidas Medina Arvelo (Nazareth) so that he answers in court for his involvement in the fraudulent lottery of the National lottery known as Operation 13.
It was reported that the defendant was declared in default and it is expected that he will be captured by members of the Police and other intelligence agencies so that the Public Prosecutor’s Office can present him to justice and regularize the measure of coercion, then implement the process under investigation and check to what extent it could be incorporated together with the other defendants who are being prosecuted in the Second Collegiate Court of the National District.
The court knows the file implemented by the Public Ministry against the defendants of Operation 13, who are prosecuted for perpetrating fraud through the fraudulent pool draw, held on May 1, 2021, to the detriment of the National Lottery and betting banks , with an amount that amounts to more than 500 million pesos.

In addition to Maisichell Dicent, the main defendant in Operation 13, the trial continues against William Rosario Ortiz, Eladio Batista, Valentina Rosario Cruz, Jonathan Brea, Carlos Berigüete, Felipe Santiago Toribio, Edison Manuel Perdomo Peralta, Miguel Mejía and Rafael Mesa .
Court attorney Mirna Ortiz, Litigation Coordinator of the Special Prosecutor’s Office for the Prosecution of Administrative Corruption (Pepca), highlighted so far six of the defendants have admitted their guilt, stating not only that they participated in the process, but also that the events occurred as the Public Prosecutor described in the accusation.
