Since 2019, 13 EPS have been liquidated: shadows on the future of health

According to the National Superintendency of Health, 13 Health Promotion Companies have been liquidated in the country. Among those that stand out Coomeva, Cafesalud and Salucoop, these last two with the process reactivated. As well as Share, Manexka, Comfacor, Emdisalud, Cruz Blanca, Saludvida, Comfacundi, Comfacartagena, Ambuq and Comfanariñowhose retirement was voluntary.

(Supersalud ordered the takeover of EPS Emmsanar).

These processes have put in suspense, after multiple complaints, the fate of the affiliates who are waiting to find a receiving EPS that does not end up liquidated. In the most recent case, Coomeva left 1,169,172 users attentive to a change of EPS, waiting to start their procedures and waiting for the new destination insurers to resolve their guardianships.

Thus, Supersalud revealed the panorama of rights violations in which Coomeva users found themselves.

(Sura and Nueva EPS will receive 42% of Coomeva users).

“During the periods 2019, 2020 and 2021, it was concluded that the EPS did not perform the timely diagnosis of chronic patients with cervical cancer and breast cancer due to low coverage in taking cervical cytology, colposcopy and mammography”revealed the diagnosis of the control entity.

However, regarding the receiving EPSs to which the affiliates arrive, in the case of Coomeva, with more than 193,100 petitions, complaints, claims and reports, they also have their issues to resolve.

This was revealed by the report of the control entity, as of September 2021, which indicated that NuevaEPS, the entity with Coomeva users, is the one that registers the most PQRD requirements (petitions, complaints, claims and reports), specifically with 126,242 .

In second and third place, There are also the two with the most transfer of affiliates, Salud Total and Sanitas, with 67,768 and 59,530 complaints, respectively.

This panorama of users from transfer to transfer seems to have no end. This Tuesday, Supersalud took possession of another EPS, Emssanar. Which indicates that you are evaluating whether the company can catch up with its finances and pay attention in a timely manner.

This case draws attention because 92% of that population belongs to the subsidized regimethat is, users of the system in conditions of vulnerability.

(EPS receivers assume Coomeva user attention from this Tuesday).

These users will remain on hold, since their EPS has not complied with the Institutional Reorganization Plan. In addition to registering, during the last year, losses of 342,180 million pesos.

Thus, Supersalud ordered its administrative possession.
