Mobile phone service restored in Cuba

OnCubaNews

The Telecommunications Company of Cuba SA (Etecsa) reported this Friday that during the early hours of the morning it had managed to fully restore the service of mobile phone, who suffered damages in the afternoon/evening of the previous day.

Through its profiles on social networks, the only state company dedicated to offering this service in Cuba informed its clients that the effects, which had been gradually resolved, had been completely overcome.

Most of the users of the mobile telephone network had been left this Thursday without the possibility of using their cell phones to make calls or navigate through the data. At that time, ETECSA confirmed that there were effects on the service and that they were working “to identify the failure for the earliest possible restoration.”

Hours later, and through the same channels, the company announced that the service had started working again, albeit partially, and exposed the numbers that were still affected at that time.

Beyond notifying its clients of the restoration of the service, ETECSA had not made public the reasons that left its mobile telephone network inoperative, nor the magnitude of the affectation.

Many users speculated on social networks that it was a deliberate action by the company to prevent a concentration of people from being broadcast live in front of the luxurious Packard hotel, in the Prado in Havana, reviewed by independent media.

Supposedly from one of his rooms, the Mexican-American rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine, visiting Havana these days, threw dollars at the crowd that had come to the place, which caused a great commotion and forced the police to form a cordon. in front of the hotel.

The videos of the event have gone viral on social networks, although it has not been reported by any official Cuban media.
