Plenary approves in two votes to give the Executive powers to act in matters of economic reactivation and modernization of State management

In two votes in the same legislature, the Plenary of Congress approved giving the Executive of Boluarte and Otárola powers to exercise “the economic reactivation and modernization of State management”, according to the proposal of PL 3941.

The president of the Decentralization commission, Diana Gonzáles, said that “the ball is now in the court of the Executive”.

In the final vote there were 80 votes in favor, 31 against and 7 abstentions.

As reported, on February 16, APP spokesperson, Alejandro Soto, presented a letter addressed to the senior officer of Congress, José Cevasco, with the purpose of making official the position of his bench before the advance of elections. “The objective is to contribute to the debate once and for all on the shortening of the mandate of the president, of the congressmen and to go to an election process this year or in 2024“he told the press.

The benches that signed the minutes of the Board of Spokespersons, supporting that the initiative to advance the elections be included in the agenda, were Popular Force, Free Peru, Alliance for Progress, Democratic Change-Together for Peru and Podemos Peru.

It is worth noting that they were up to four projects related to the advancement of elections that they were rejected. The last of these was the initiative presented by the government of Dina Boluarte to Congress. This was archived by the Constitution Commission chaired by the parliamentarian of the Fuerza Popular bench, Hernando Guerra Garcia.
