Ancap defined support actions for the agricultural sector due to water deficit

The Ancap board of directors announced a series of support measures for the agricultural sector to face the drought, such as making submersible water pumps available to OSE, delivering food rations for small producers and diesel for the machinery destined for channeling streams and cutwaters.

In dialogue with Presidential Communication, this Thursday the 16th, the chief reported that Ancap recovered submersible water pumps that had not been used since 2009 in Alcoholes del Uruguay (ALUR) units. Two of these devices will be transferred to Aguas Corrientes, in Canelones department, so that OSE can use them in the dam and improve the flow, he explained.

Durand added that another four pumps will be delivered to OSE on loan. In addition, the company will donate animal and vegetable food made by ALUR to small producers and will provide diesel with tankers to the Ministry of Defense to collaborate in the emergency situation generated by the water deficit throughout Uruguay.

Ancap also attends to the irrigation system in Bella Unión, department of Artigas, since the company manages the irrigation systems in that area of the national territory. These are country actions in which all agencies work to solve situations. They are necessary as a way to deal with the drought, he said.
