Restaurant menu prices rose 14.5%

The Colombian Association of the Gastronomic Industry (Acodres), presented a report that accounts for uNo significant inflation in the sector throughout the country beginning the year.

Among the findings of the report, which analyzed the information of more than 1,200 restaurants, it was highlighted that 66% of the establishments digitized with the Cluvi platform made increases in the prices of their products in January 2023generating a 14.5% rise in prices, compared to January 2022, when the increase was 13.9%.

Total, 25 categories were affected by the price increase last January. Likewise, 37,211 products had increases during that month, which translated into 46 changes in products per restaurant.

By segmentation of restaurants those of the casual category had an inflation of 40.1%, while those corresponding to fast food registered an inflation of 35.9%, haute cuisine 8.4%, typical 6.5%, coffee and pastries 6.4% and discotheques and bars 2.7%.

Among the products that had the most price changes in January are: cFast food, soft drink, spirits, meat, wine, healthy, seafood, beer, bakery and pasta.

According to Guillermo Gómez París, president of Acodres, “the restaurant business is in jeopardy and has been affected by the decrease in the ability to pay that Colombians currently have.”
