Jesús María Casal, president of the CP, indicated that by April at the latest there will be a regulation of voting abroad for the primaries. Regarding voting abroad, one of the most requested elements for the 2024 presidential elections, the president of the CP recalled that a regulation will be issued to regulate the participation of Venezuelans outside the country, which will have a deadline of month of April.
“On both issues, steps have been taken, regarding the issue of participation or not by the CNE, the step we are taking is that of the voting centers and the updating of the Electoral Registry. The opinion of the political actors on these issues is not identical, although in general in the consultations everyone accepted, they understood that we requested the voting centers, but with different visions. There are those who say: ‘it is essential’, there are those who say that it is extremely difficult to do the primary in any other way than with the voting centers, the educational institutions; but there are those who say: ‘be careful’, and see it with skepticism, with fear. But it is a step that no one objected to, that of requesting the voting centers ”, he highlighted.
He commented that the CP must deliberate and make decisions regarding an eventual use of the CNE machines and the support of the Republic Plan, since they consider that they start from the premise that the primary process is based on political freedom.
When asked that if they rely on the CNE that does not mean tutelage, he said that “this is something important that must be made clear: in any case, we as CP are the governing body, we control and define the process with the citizens.
