Renowned economist and executive Alberto Verme passed away

The renowned Peruvian economist Alberto Verme passed away yesterday after a long and successful career in the financial sector, which included his time at and Citi, where he served as global president of the Institutional Clients Group. In addition, he stood out as the Peruvian who held the highest executive position in the world.

Alberto Verme was an economist, trained at the University of Denison (USA). He later earned an MBA from the Columbia University School of Business.

As part of his outstanding career, Verme went through Wall Street, eventually joining The First Boston Corporation in 1984.

His career led him to Citi, where he led the Global Energy, Power and Chemicals franchise from 2001 to 2004.

From 2004 to 2009, the economist was at the head of the Global Investment Banking division and served as a member of the Management Committee of the Institutional Clients Group and of the Investment Banking Operating Committee of the aforementioned entity.

From 2009 to 2011, he served as CEO of Europe, the Middle East and Africa, covering 54 countries.
