The Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Cuba and Ecuador announced this afternoon that after the fatal accident registered this Wednesday, in Gualaca, Chiriquí, they maintain communication with Panamanian authorities to identify the victims of both nationalities and to be able to provide consular assistance to their compatriots and relatives.
Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez regretted the accident and said that the country reiterates its permanent commitment to regular, safe and orderly migration.
For its part, the Ecuadorian Ministry of Foreign Affairs specified that “this tragedy moves us and alerts us to the dangers of irregular migration, which entails serious risks to life and human dignity.”
Another who offered her condolences in the face of what happened was the United States ambassador to Panama Mari Carmen Aponte, who pointed out that the embassy is in communication with the Government of Panama and international organizations to provide support to the victims.
