The Tocumen International Airport during the month of January 2023 registered a movement of 1,516,425 passengers, that is, 124% more than January 2022 and 2.2% more than January 2019 (Pre-pandemic).
Raffoul Arab, General Manager of Tocumen International Airport, indicated: “January has been the best month since 2019. Air transport is showing unmistakable signs of recovery and growth. For this reason, we are prioritizing the quality of passenger care and service, security, as well as investments in airport structures.”
Destinations and markets
Regarding international connections, in January Tocumen maintained direct routes to 83 destinations, through 17 commercial airlines that offer services to the main cities in America and Europe.
The results for January indicate that of the total number of passengers who used the Tocumen terminal, 71% were connecting passengers. In addition, 12,093 aircraft movements were managed.
According to the data provided by the Statistics Department of the Tocumen International Airport, the markets with the highest regional movement in January were South America with 45%, followed by North America with 28%, the Caribbean 11%, while Central America contributed 10%. , and European markets contributed a 5% share.
Regional terminals and cargo
Regarding the cargo terminal, 15,968 metric tons of merchandise were mobilized during the first month of 2023.
For their part, the Panama Pacifico, Enrique Malek, Scarlett Martínez and Enrique A. Jiménez regional terminals, managed by Tocumen, SA, recorded traffic of 72,682 passengers and 2,277 aircraft operations in January.
Among the regional terminals, Panama Pacifico registered the highest movement with 39,669 passengers processed. While the domestic terminal processed 14,517 passengers.
