The Automotive Tramway Union (UTA) is carrying out a strike on the five subway lines, after the “violent episode” that occurred on subway Line C, where it was an officer of the Buenos Aires City Police was murdered and a worker was injured.
The measure of force, the union reported in a statement, will be carried out “for an indefinite period of time, until the Emova company” and “the Government of the City of Buenos Aires commit to strengthening the security scheme and a greater presence of police officers”.
“In the current scenario of growing violence, situations occur every day that can lead to tragic events, such as the one that hurts all Argentines today,” the union warned. in the text signed by the National Board of Directors of the Automotive Tramway Union.
For his part, the metro delegates of the Subway and Premetro Workers Union Association (AGTSyP) maintained the same measure of force but until midnight.
“Due to the lack of security conditions and in repudiation of the act of violence that caused an injured colleague and a deceased police officer, the conditions are not met to provide the service to the six subway and premetro lines until the end of the day,” they said. through social networks the metro delegates, who had started their protest at 5:00 p.m.
The measure of force was announced as a result of the fact that a City Police officer was killed today with two bullets by a man who took his service weapon after an altercation with subway personnel and fired a series of shots at the station. Withdrawal from line C, after which he ended up in custody, reported police sources.
The fact, in which a subway worker who remains hospitalized was also injured, occurred after 11 o’clock at the head station of subway line C.
In this regard, the concessionaire company Emova regretted the death of the officer of the agent and indicated that the security protocols were “activated” to attend to the cash and the worker who were shot.

“The episode took place at 11:04 a.m. today, when the attacker, who was receiving assistance from our staff, reacted violently when the police officer approached to offer his help,” Emova explained.
In the event, a worker from the Stations sector was also injured, who according to the company “is in good health, with minor injuries and is being treated at the Fernández Hospital,” where he was transferred.
“We want to highlight the actions and collaboration of employees and external agents for the assistance provided on site to users who were affected by this incident,” added the company.
