Five days after finishing the last public audience evaluation of the request for preventive detention, the national preparatory investigation judge Raúl Justiniano Romero will resolve the legal situation of the seven leaders of the Front for the Defense of the Peoples of Ayacucho.

Meanwhile, community leaders Rocío Leandro Melgar, Alejandro Manay Pillaca, Piero Giles Gamboa, Estefany Alanya Chumbes, Yulisa Gómez Ayala, Fernando Quinto Cuba and Alex Gómez Falcón They continue with preliminary detention since February 12.

The relatives and lawyers of the seven community leaders offered a press conference yesterday to publicize the various irregularities in the investigation and the constant “terruqueo” of the prosecutors.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office requests that they be placed in pretrial detention for allegedly belonging to an organization generated from Sendero Luminoso. “The only evidence that is presented is their participation in seminars and conversations, organized by foreign universities, where the new Constitution and constituent assembly are discussed.“, says the lawyer Alipio Doller Huamán.
