Mexico will not provide information on Lilia Paredes for five years

The Mexican government declared “reserved” for five years the file of former first lady Lilia Paredes, whoin the midst of criminal investigations initiated by the Prosecutor’s Office.

The Sunday newspaper Latina published yesterday the resolution issued by the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Relations in which this decision is reported under the argument that revealing this information “could undermine the international relations of Mexico and the Republic of Peru.”

“The information that is reserved consists of a part of the procedure that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs carried out for the granting of political asylum, for this reason its publication could undermine the action strategies in the matter of the Government of Mexico before Peru,” it reads. in the document.

The special team led by prosecutor Marita Barreto accuses Paredes of being part of the criminal organization that former president Pedro Castillo would have headed during his administration. According to the investigation, Castillo’s spouse was the coordinator for the distribution of works and public positions.

Despite the serious accusations, Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador decided to give Paredes Navarro and his two youngest children political protection.

It should be remembered that Peru and called in consultation with the Peruvian ambassador in that country, Manuel Talavera, which has led both countries to maintain their relations at the business level.
