Artificial intelligence by 2030: what type of companies will demand more specialized professionals?

The It would allow Peru’s Gross Domestic Product or GDP to double by 20230, according to estimates by the Inter-American Development Bank, reported the National Center for Strategic Planning (Ceplan).

“In Peru, as a consequence of the high adoption of AI (artificial intelligence) technology, the national GDP could double and productivity rates would triple to 7.3% by 2030,” Ceplan said in a statement.

This trend only reflects a reality that several countries and the world in general are already experiencing. Proof of this is that the value of investment in artificial intelligence reached approximately US$201 billion in 2021; representing an increase of US$198,223 million in relation to 2012.

INVESTMENT IN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

The US has positioned itself as the country with the highest investment, reaching a value of US$106,741 million; In second place, China is located with a value of 46,898 million dollars, adding both countries, it will reach 76% of the total investment for that year.

In Latin America, investment occurs in a lower proportion, but under the same growing trend; Brazil being the most representative country with a value of 1099 million dollars in 2021 compared to 33 million in 2012.

It is worth mentioning that since 2020, various Latin American countries have begun to establish AI strategies, starting with promoting research and development of autonomous systems in universities.

DEMAND FOR STAFF AND INITIATIVES

In this context, Ceplan specified that it is projected that business services companies in Peru will increase by 279% the need to have personnel trained in artificial intelligence.

For this reason, IDB estimates also anticipate that the fastest growing industry would be business services.

Ceplan also reported that Peru began AI projects since 2018; however, it presented its AI strategy in 2021 with the aim of aligning the main axes of this technology with the development of the country.

“By 2021, Peru presented its National Artificial Intelligence Strategy (ENIA) that defined six “Strategic Axes” aimed at the adoption and appropriation of AI as a driver of national development; These axes were: Talent Training and Attraction (training of research skills), Economic Model (AI as an innovation tool), Technological Infrastructure (facilitate the creation of technological infrastructures that are the basis for AI), Data (facilitate access to high-quality public data), Ethics (ethical, sustainable and transparent guidelines for data protection) and Collaboration (collaborative ecosystem at the national and international level in the field of AI)”, highlighted Ceplan.

He also highlighted that the Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion promoted an automatic learning and image recognition platform that allows early detection of anemia. Similarly, in the context of the health crisis, two new projects were developed, the first called COVID: Dynamic Virus Control, which used artificial intelligence to perform virus pre-diagnostics; and a second project called SIAMA, in which deep learning was used to inform, alert, monitor and assist people with symptoms of the virus.
