Civilians did not die during the attempt to take over the Ayacucho airport

It had already been reported in these pages that the majority of citizens who were killed by shots in the city of ayacucho they did not receive the bullets while trying to take the airport; however, the video published last night by IDL-Reporteros consolidates that version. Journalists Rosa Laura and César Prado have reconstructed how six of the ten people who died on December 15 were murdered: Josué Sañudo, Edgar Prado, Clemer Rojas, Cristofer Ramos Aime, José Luis Aguilar Yucra and Leonardo Hancco.

The investigation by the team led by Gustavo Gorriti made it possible to identify the location and precise moments of the shots and where the victims fell. “He was able to determine that in the six cases investigated those who shot were military; as well as who was in command of the military operation ”, he concludes.

It is further added that the Prosecutor Karen Obregón Ubaldoof the Second Provincial Criminal Prosecutor’s Office Specialized in Human Rights, Interculturality and Terrorism Crimes of Ayacucho, has initiated an investigation to determine as clearly as possible what was the responsibility of the military and police chiefs in what happened.

“One of the first procedures was to collect evidence at the critical points of the confrontations. On December 17, a team from the prosecutor’s office collected 18 bullet casings between Ejército avenue and Vía de Evitamiento, and another three in the Conchopata archaeological zone.. No shell casings were found on Abancay avenue and other sectors surrounding the cemetery, although in later days some people went to Obregón’s office to deliver those they had found on the night of the 15th in that area,” it is reported.

The report adds that on December 19 Obregón’s team visited the barracks facilities “Sunday Ayarza” (ex-Cabitos) and asked for the weapons entry and exit notebook of the five units that make up the fort.
