Canada and the US shoot down an unknown cylindrical object that violated airspace

Canada respects the dissolution of the interim government and is committed to dialogue in Mexico

Canada and the United States coordinated a joint operation to shoot down an unknown object that was flying over the airspace of the first country without authorization. “I ordered the shooting down of an unidentified object that violated Canadian airspace,” Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau wrote on Twitter about the event. So far the authorities have not detailed the origin of the artifact

On Saturday, February 11, Canada shot down an unknown object that violated its airspace, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said. According to official information, the device was detected by the North American Aerospace Defense Command (Norad), an organization formed by Canada and the United States (USA).

The object was shot down when it was flying over Yukon, an area located in the northwest of the country. American and Canadian planes participated in the operation to stop the device. “I ordered the downing of an unidentified object that violated Canadian airspace,” Trudeau said in a statement. The shot that brought down the cylindrical object was detonated by a US F-22. The report comes two days after the United States shot down an unknown flying object over Alaska and shot down a balloon of Chinese origin that was allegedly used by Beijing for espionage tasks.

The Canadian Defense Minister, Anita Anand, explained during a press conference that the device was small, “cylindrical” and that it was flying at an altitude of about 12 kilometers. She did not specify its origin.

“It would not be prudent for me to speculate on the origin of the object at this time,” argued the Canadian minister who asked to wait until the authorities have analyzed the data to offer more information.

It is the first time that Norad, which was created in 1958 to defend the airspace of the United States and Canada, has shot down an object flying in the region.

“The importance of this moment should not be underestimated. We jointly detect the object and jointly shoot it down,” Anand said. The Canadian authorities indicated that they have begun work to recover the remains of the object.
