The Government analyzes the expiration of Edesur’s concession before the cuts

The ENRE seeks to establish the causes of the blackout that affected thousands of Edesur users

Thousands of users are still affected by the cuts

The national government is analyzing the expiration of the service concession of the electricity distribution company Edesur due to the lack of supply for thousands of customers, as revealed this Sunday by the controller of the National Electricity Regulation Entity (ENRE), Walter Martello.

“Given the serious situation and as indicated by the Ministry of Energy and the technical examination that we will formulate, we will act accordingly due to the possible expiration of the concession of the electrical distribution service by the company Edesur,” said Martello. on his Twitter account.

Meanwhile, the Secretary of Energy, Flavia Royónstated in his account of that social network: “Our pulse will not tremble if that means having to terminate the concession contract for the electrical distribution service run by the Edesur company.”

“We have reports that hundreds of families have been without electricity for days. They have one thing in common, they are all Edesur clients. I have just instructed the ENRE to initiate the corresponding administrative actions to immediately and definitively solve this type of situation that is repeated year after year”, stated Royon.

Before, the official expressed that “immediately the ENRE will instruct to reinforce the crews to restore the service and will begin the audit of compliance with the summer plan presented”.

Martello had questioned that Edesur excused itself in the lack of generation before the 200 thousand cuts, but “they themselves are responsible for the power plants from which they should be supplied that the Enel group controls. The lack of investment is the true cause and this possible spike in demand was known in advance.”

Given the interruption of supply in recent days, the ENRE explained that “CAMMESA, the operator of the Argentine Interconnection System (SADI), confirmed that it did not request any cut in any of the areas or regions of the country since the peak was operated with optimal reserves”.

Later, the entity indicated that “SACME, the operator of the high voltage network of Edenor and Edesur, reported that it ordered restrictions due to voltage drops in the 220 Kv and 132 kv networks and/or saturation of transmission equipment.”

The ENRE pointed out that “the ENEL Group has more than 1,500 MW out of service due to unscheduled unavailability in the GBA area, including Central Costanera and Central Dock Sud”.

Finally, The ENRE indicated that “it is monitoring the replacement of electrical service in the Edesur concession area that was affected and will carry out the corresponding investigation to determine the responsibility of the distributor and of the possible sanctions in accordance with what is established in the concession contract”.

Edesur’s concession area covers the southern zone of Greater Buenos Aires and much of the south and west of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.
