Henry Reeve en Turquía

Mexico City, Mexico.- A brigade of the International Contingent of Doctors Specialized in Disaster Situations and Serious Epidemics henry reeve will travel to youurquia to assist the population affected by the devastating earthquake this week, official media reported.

According to Juan Carlos Dupuy Núñez, in charge of the brigade, the team is made up of 32 professionals: four women and 28 men. More than half of them carried out internationalist and emergency missions after the earthquake in Pakistan; the Ebola epidemic in Guinea Conakry and Liberia; and against COVID-19 in Mexico, the United Arab Emirates, Andorra and Kuwait.

This Monday a earthquake of magnitude 7.8 destroyed the lives of more than 21 thousand people in the northern Syria and southeastern Turkey, while the number of injured exceeds 80 thousand. Since then several countries have sent medical brigades, rescuers, as well as food, medicine and technology to find the missing.

The dispatch of Cuban health professionals was announced after the dictator Miguel Díaz-Canel published that Cuba is willing to collaborate with the authorities of the countries affected by the natural disaster.

For his part, José Ángel Portal Miranda, Minister of Public Health (MINSAP) wrote on his networks that: “Cuba ratifies its willingness to provide solidarity aid in every corner of the planet where our support can be useful.”

The Cuban dictatorship has been denounced for practices of modern slavery for the treatment they give to the professionals who export. “For decades, the Island’s regime has spread altruism, solidarity and disinterest in its medical missions throughout the world in its propaganda, highlighting its great prestige and quality. But the cost in the construction of this unreal myth has a high price that these Cuban health professionals have paid – and continue to pay – who are subjected to slavery, persecution and other inhumane acts,” he denounced.
